Located in the heart of Charles Village in Baltimore, the Village Learning Place has something for everyone - from tots to teens to senior citizens! The Village Learning Place boasts a collection of 15,000 books on its shelves. Over 4,500 people have VLP library cards. Stop by to get yours!

In 1896, Enoch Pratt witnessed the completion of his lifelong vision to have public library branches established within individual Baltimore neighborhoods. He had personally designed six Victorian style buildings that would bring literature, reference materials and educational resources within walking distance for thousands of city residents.  In 1997, the historic Pratt Library Branch #6 was closed after one hundred and one years of continuous operation.  Realizing the intensity of feeling for the library, a coalition of concerned residents and business owners from the surrounding communities met and proposed to restore the historic building and reopen it as a community-operated educational facility.  In November 1997, a community forum unanimously endorsed a plan to create the Village Learning Place.

Today, the services of the Village Learning Place focus on four areas: the Library; the Community Technology Center; the Learning Center; and an Educational Garden.  Through its educational programs and services, the Village Learning Place helps break down social barriers; integrates diverse communities; and provides educational and cultural enrichment for all ages and provides educational and cultural enrichment for all ages and incomes.
