What Now? Finding Facts in a Sea of Falsehoods
December 12 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 12:30 pm on Thursday, repeating until December 19, 2024
Join us at the Village Learning Place for our first Professionals in the Library series, “What Now? Finding Facts in a Sea of Falsehoods,” hosted in conjunction with Deanna Troust of Truth in Common.
- Part 1 covers terminology, examples, and the science behind our vulnerability to falsehoods
- Part 2 introduces “prebunking,” an evidence-based technique for innoculating ourselves from falsehoods and helping other do the same. Features a local reporter as guest speaker & tips for checking facts and sources.
- Part 3 allows participants to practice listening and “perspective taking” skills in conversing with others about topics of their choice.
- Optional: Participants can join an ongoing fact-checking project if they like, afterward
Registration is requested, as is participation in all three sessions as they build upon each other: https://bit.ly/whatnow2024
