Join us on the second Wednesday of each month for 2nd Wednesdays, a series of free lectures, concerts, and special arts events open to all adults in our community. Designed to showcase local talent and provide a first-rate cultural experience, this monthly event offers the perfect opportunity to connect with neighbors, enjoy inspiring performances, and engage in meaningful conversation.
Each program begins with a friendly neighborhood social from 7:00–7:30 pm, where you can share culture and conversation with fellow community members. The main event kicks off at 7:30 pm, featuring engaging presentations, live performances, or interactive discussions.
Whether you’re a lover of music, art, or thought-provoking talks, 2nd Wednesdays has something for everyone. Free parking is available in the lot behind 2510 St. Paul Street, making it easy to join in on this enriching community experience.

Wednesday, August 14 – “Amelia Earhart-The Fun of It!“
Award-Winning Actress & Smithsonian Scholar, Mary Ann Jung, will present an entertaining and interactive historical show as Amelia Earhart. You will get to meet the fascinating people who supported her adventures, including Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. The amazing Amelia said she risked it all for the Fun of It!
Wednesday, September 11 – “Fresh Herbs in the Kitchen”
Join us as mother-daughter duo, Lyn Rau Pence, Herb Society of America, and Beth E. Tohn, VLP Board President, Chef, and VLP lead garden volunteer takes us on a culinary herb experience. Learn about growing herbs at home in your own garden or in containers. Take home recipes and samples from the VLP herb garden.
Wednesday, October 9 – “Sounds of Surprise”
Join us for a evening of wonder and amazement as we hear the unlikely pair of a clarinet and mandolin, played by Bob Jacobson and Leo Hickman. We will hear a wide variety of swing, gypsy jazz, Brazilian, Latin and other styles.
This program is made possible in part by a grant from the 32nd Street Farmers Market, 400 E. 32nd Street, open Saturdays year-round, from 7 am to 12 noon.
