The Village Vanguard is a select group of loyal and committed individuals who share a vision for the VLP’s great potential for growth. The name of this group directly reflects its mission: to serve as the core of advanced philanthropy on behalf of the VLP.
We appreciate companies, large and small, that encourage their teams to give back. Contact our Development Manager, Sydney Hunter, to get started.
Here's our big wish list:
Each year, the Village Learning Place hosts signature events to support its innovative work. All proceeds from these events directly fund VLP operations and our community and educational programs.
Read Between the Wines is the Village Learning Place's extraordinary annual fundraising event. Held annualy in our beautifully renovated historic library and garden, this gala event brings together great food, live music, silent and live auctions, and a fantastic atmosphere of community.
Rum & Reggae kicks off the Charles Village Festival weekend every year in the Village Learning Place Garden. The event includes live music, refreshing rum cocktails, and delicious Caribbean food. All proceeds from the event benefit the Village Learning Place.
Hundreds of community residents have volunteered to help the Village Learning Place (VLP) with everything from tutoring children to gardening to refinishing woodwork in the building. Each year, more than 120 local residents volunteer their time to serve on our board and committees, work in the library, or assist in the after-school or summer programs.
Our volunteers are crucial to the organization. Their hard work and support strengthens the VLP as a true nexus of the community. Check out a review we received from a long-time volunteer at Great Nonprofits, where we are a top-rated organization!
