A Memorable Night of Community, Celebration, and Impact

More than 100 people raised their glass in support of a much needed [local] resource

Thank you to everyone who made Read Between the Wines a sold-out success!

On April 26, 2025, The Village Learning Place was transformed into a vibrant hub of connection, conversation, and celebration.

Together, we raised $39,422.26—a 192% increase in revenue from our last Read Between the Wines—and welcomed more than 100 attendees into our historic library space. These incredible results help sustain our free educational programs, cultural events, and enrichment opportunities for neighbors of all ages across Charles Village and Baltimore City.

But the numbers tell only part of the story.

Guests got to learn more about and support VLP services in The Library Marketplace, hear inspiring stories from the stage during Mission Moments throughout the evening, bid fiercely (and joyfully!) in our spirited live auction, and enjoy an evening filled with flavorful bites and pours from beloved local sponsors. The crowd buzzed with energy all evening—and a crowd of guests found their way to our tucked-away speakeasy, The Censored Cellar, where the password “1896” gave them a chance to enter to win a cool prize from the cozy hideaway inspired by banned books and the freedom to read.

We were honored to be joined by Councilman Jermaine Jones and Delegate Regina Boyce, whose presence underscored the importance of investing in spaces like ours—places where literacy, cultural awareness, and lifelong learning remain free and accessible.

Thank you for showing up, speaking up, and raising a glass to the power of community-led learning. Because of you, The Village Learning Place remains a space where everyone can belong, explore, and grow.

We can’t wait to see you again next year and at the next event!
